Two farm workers jailed for stealing 404 pieces of catfish

A Magistrates Court has sentenced two persons for stealing 404 pieces of catfish valued at N606,000 belonging to their boss in the Isabo Area, Ogun State, Nigeria.

The convicts, who worked on a farm in Ilewo, were indicted on two counts of felony theft.

The prosecutor, Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the offences committed on January 24, 2023, contravened Sections 516(1) and 382(2) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State.

Justice O.O. Odumosu sentenced both convicts to six months imprisonment each for the first count and one-year imprisonment each for the second count.

However, it granted the convicts a fine option of N10,000 for each prison sentence, provided they could repay the N606,000 to the plaintiff.
