Commercial drones turned into suicide bombers in Ukraine

Supported by intelligence experts and based on content available in open source, the specialized media Numerama was able to analyze an ingenious practice of the Ukrainian army: transforming commercial drones from the Chinese brand DJI into kamikaze devices.

On January 16, Ukrainian Digital Minister Mykhailo Fedorov again called for drone donations to help the war effort.

Videos prove such use of drones. To analyze them, Numerama called on Project Fox, an anonymous collective specializing in intelligence.

They were particularly interested in the Ukrainian army unit “Krela”, which posted a series of videos on YouTube.

83 drones were sent to Bakhmut. Mavic, Matrice, Autel from the Army of Drones will be the eyes and assistants of 🇺🇦 defenders.

Also passed dozens of Starlinks, so soldiers can stay in touch & coordinate.
