Gunmen burnt police headquarters in Anambra

Assailants have burnt down the Divisional Police Headquarters in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria, according to reports.

The assailants, who came in large numbers, stormed the police premises and began shooting sporadically, frightening the police officers on duty, before setting fire to the building.

The gunmen escaped the scene due to the superior fire of the police operatives, and no casualty was recorded.

The motive behind the development could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, and it was not also clear if the hoodlums went away with police ammunition.

Casualty figures have not yet been ascertained but it was gathered that the fire destroyed the building, property, and official documents.

“Operation is still ongoing in the area, further details shall be communicated.”
