A woman reportedly left a taxi, walked to the third continental bridge in Nigeria, climbed it and jumped into a lagoon, after a stormy argument with her fiancé, local media reported.
The cab driver said she was having a heated conversation with her fiancé before she got out of the car.
“The Lagos Response Team, men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASWA, and officials of the Department of State Services are currently on the ground working together to search for the victim,” the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Osanyintolu said.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, said the rescue teams, after intense search and rescue efforts, have failed to find the victim.
However, he assured that they will continue research, because the wave could have taken the body.
