Kenya: US Secretary Blinken to discuss Ethiopia war

The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, is travelling to Kenya for talks about the war in Ethiopia, as well as the security situation in Sudan and Somalia.

President Uhuru Kenyatta recently visited Ethiopia and the US has warned it could impose sanctions on the Ethiopian government and the rebels in Tigray region, BBC News reports.

Mr Blinken will continue his first official trip to Africa in Nigeria where he will meet President Muhammadu Buhari.

During his stay in the capital, Abuja, he is expected to announce a new US-Africa policy.

Mr Blinken’s trip will conclude in Senegal where he’s to meet President Macky Sall, who’s expected to take over the chairmanship of the African Union.
