Kenya: Uhuru Kenyatta reacts to Pandora Papers leak

The Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has reacted to the Pandora Papers financial leak, which showed that he, as well as six members of his family, have been linked to 13 offshore companies.

In a statement he says he will give a full response upon his return from a state visit to America, but for now he wants to say:

“These reports will go a long way in enhancing the financial transparency and openness that we require in Kenya and around the globe. The movement of illicit funds, proceeds of crime and corruption thrive in an environment of secrecy and darkness.”

“The Pandora Papers and subsequent follow up audits will lift that veil of secrecy and darkness for those who can not explain their assets or wealth”, he reacts.
