Under the colors of the communist party, the 21-years-old mayor Arya Rajendran’s election campaign was focused on health and hygiene. Her election as the Head of Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala is greeted with enthusiasm.
This mathematic student will rule a City of one million inhabitants.
“As a student and as a youth representative, I faced several municipal problems. The most important was that of hygiene and health infrastructure. Even during Covid-19, people were afraid to go to the hospital. I want to provide better care for everyone. And I think my application is a sign of hope for all young Indians,” she said on Indian television, a few days before her official nomination.
Arya Rajendran said she would continue her studies in parallel with her new functions.
