South Africa: A new form of covid-19, dangerous for young people

Should young people be worried more? A new variant of coronavirus is detected in south Africa. It would be more severe for the young people.

The announcement was done this Friday by the minister of health Zwelini Mkhize who, in a statement, published the information. According to him, this new form of the virus ‘’Variant 501.V2” was identified by researchers of his country and notified to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“This situation could explain the speed of the transmissions of the second wave which touches younger patients”, has announced Friday evening the minister of health.

South-African Doctors have moreover noted an evolution of the epidemiologic landscape notably with more younger patients, without comorbidities, who develop more severe forms of the disease.
